lyrics

Growing up in the suburbs of the Second City ain't
The place to be a folk legend, they say
Nobody stops to listen to the banjo that he plays
Still he sits outside and plays it every day
Putting on another Dylan record they say is not the way
To make the hip gets get up and dance and sway
But he don't care for fancy things, he's a legend to be made
His is the kind to burn and never fade

Yeah, Folk Legend
Play another folk song for me
Yeah, you are a legend

Yeah, Folk Legend
Play another folk song for me
Yeah, you are the legend of which I sing

He'll tell you that he plays the drums, but he sometimes skips a beat
To follow pretty girls down the street
He'll sleep through damn near anything
He never knows to wake
He doesn't care to smoke, but he loves to bake
And if you ever see him, tell him that I say "Hello
I hope the years have not treated you rough"
I can still remember the folk songs that he played
Is he out there? Does he still play them today?
I don't know, because on our paths we went the other way

They recruited their friend Michael Garrity to play bass, and the rest, as they say, is history. ... more
